Urban Education offers a variety of program opportunities for children through adults. Plan a week long Urban Plunge in Denver or spend a day at DenUM learning about issues that face low-income individuals and families in Denver, Colorado, and throughout the world.
Urban Plunge Week:
Spend a week confronting issues of homelessness, hunger and poverty in an urban setting. Through the Urban Education program you have the opportunity to volunteer at numerous metropolitan area non-profits working with the homeless, low-income families, children, people with disabilities and the elderly. In addition to coordinating service projects, we provide housing in local churches, speakers, urban tours and educational activities.
Urban Plunge Half Week:
Not able to commit to an entire week? Plan a half week instead! This is a great option for first-time service trippers or for middle school youth. Spend a day-and-a-half volunteering at area non-profits and spend a half-day learning about issues that face low-income people.
Urban Plunge Weekend:
Working around busy school and work schedules? Plan a weekend instead! This is a great option for trips during the school year or for busy adults. Spend Saturday volunteering at area non-profits and Friday and Saturday evening learning about issues that face low-income people. On Sunday, take the opportunity to attend a church service that might be different from your own tradition.
Day Opportunities:
We provide a range of activities that highlight the lived experiences of low-income people. Check out Learning Opportunities to read more about what's available. Plan a half or full day experience at DenUM or a session at your school or church!
Volunteer at DenUM:
Make a difference in the lives of DenUM clients by organizing a food drive or volunteering in our food panty sorting and packaging food bags. Opportunities are available during the week and on the weekends.
